The daughter of an architect/nature photographer, Smith discovered inspiration in nature at a young age. Her upbringing in the rural Vermont town of Shelburne influenced her creative path greatly. For over 22 years, Smith worked as a professional watercolor artist, but eventually shifted her focus to sculpture informed by the natural world.
